Ms. Reetu Jain was appointed as ex-officio Member in the Governing Board of IBBI on 6th October, 2022 as a representative of the Ministry of Finance, Government of India.
Ms. Jain has done her graduation in Economics from Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University followed by post-graduation in Economics from Delhi School of Economics. She also did her graduation in Law from Delhi University and obtained M.Phil in Social Sciences from Panjab University.
Ms. Jain belongs to the 2001 batch of Indian Economics Service. With experience of more than 20 years in Government Service, she has held several important positions especially during her posting in Department of Economic Affairs and in Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade. She is presently Adviser in the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance. At present, she handles the work related to foreign trade, investment treaties and disputes and financial sector reforms and legislation. She is also Chief Negotiator for Investment Treaties negotiated by India.
She also has extensive exposure to issues pertaining bilateral (North America) and multilateral international negotiations (USA and G20, OECD, BRICS, G8, WEF, ASEAN etc). She has been instrumental in taking through the implementation of decisions and designing of communication/implementation strategy which led to India’s phenomenal rank jump from 142 to 100 in Ease of Doing Business in Doing Business Report of World Bank 2018.
